Hey forum friends!
I’ve been exploring new SIP options for 2025, and something that really caught my attention recently is the idea of Consumption mutual funds. Just a few scrolls into my research, I found the axis consumption fund, which seems to be gaining traction among investors focusing on long-term thematic plays.
The basic idea behind consumption mutual funds is that they invest in companies that cater to everyday consumer needs—like FMCG, retail, auto, food, etc. With India’s growing population and rising income levels, consumer demand is expected to keep rising, which could benefit these funds over time.
Looking at the axis consumption fund NAV, I noticed it has performed reasonably well, especially during periods of economic stability and demand growth. Of course, as a sectoral fund, it does come with more focused exposure, but that's also where the opportunity lies for those willing to ride the trend with patience.
For those of us doing SIPs, finding the Best SIP that balances growth and risk can be tricky. That’s why I’m curious—has anyone here included sector-specific funds like this in their portfolio? Or do you stick with diversified equity funds?

Do you think consumption as a sector is reliable for SIP investing over 5–10 years?
Have you personally invested in the Axis Consumption Fund or any similar consumption-focused fund?
How do you manage your portfolio between thematic and diversified SIPs?
I personally believe in mixing things up a bit. A core holding of diversified equity or hybrid funds, along with a smaller allocation to themes like consumption, can offer both stability and growth. But I’d really like to hear what this forum thinks—especially from those who've been doing SIPs longer than I have.
